Petersen Boarding House
The Petersen House is a historic home in Washington, D.C., best known as the place where President Abraham Lincoln died on April 15, 1865, after being shot at Ford’s Theatre. Located across the street from the theater, this 19th-century boarding house was where Lincoln was carried and spent his final hours. Today, it is part of the Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site and features exhibits on Lincoln’s assassination and legacy. Visitors can step inside the room where history changed forever.
