Overview
Hatcher Pass, a scenic recreation area in Palmer, has endless hiking possibilities. From exploring old mines to hiking glacial valleys, our local guides know the best spots to get you away from the crowds to some of the area's most beautiful destinations. Adventurers can expect a full-day hiking experience, complete with a picnic lunch. Soak in scenic waterfall views, adventuring in alpine tundra along the way. On our journey, you will learn about local flora and fauna, history of the area, and hopefully see some wildlife in its natural habitat!

Our team of local guides has a couple of locations where we operate this trip. Exactly where we hike will be determined by the hiking experience of those in our group. If there is a specific hike you would like to complete, we recommend booking a private hiking experience.

Please note: this is a full day hiking adventure. We recommend participants have some hiking experience to complete this trip. This trip is for adventure seekers.

What To Expect
1
Palmer Visitor Information Center
We will meet at the Palmer Visitor Center where we will review our plans for the day.
2
Hatcher Pass
We will then load up and head to our hiking destination. We have a few options for our hiking location. Where we hike will depend on the group and everyone's hiking abilities. Most often, we recommend hiking Eska Falls, a location slightly outside of the Hatcher Pass boundary. This hike is located in the Talkeetna Mountains. We will hike up to 11 miles over potentially uneven terrain. Our hidden waterfalls trip is an out-and-back adventure with a maximum elevation gain of about 2,500 feet. During our hike we'll take pauses along the way to discuss flora, fauna, the mining history of the Talkeetna Mountains, and the boreal forest. At our turnaround point, we'll take an extended break soaking in views of the surrounding mountains (as weather permits). We'll descend the same trail, making our way back to the trailhead.
3
Palmer Visitor Information Center
After our adventure, we'll return to the Palmer Visitor Center and make recommendations for other things to do in the Palmer area.
