What To Expect

New York City
Departing from New York, this tour takes you to Albany, one of the oldest settlements in the United States, dating back to 1614. Upon arrival, you’ll experience the vibrant beauty of the annual Tulip Festival, held every May in Washington Park. Enjoy 90 minutes of tulip viewing before visiting Empire State Plaza (30 minutes), the historic New York State Capitol (30 minutes), and the New York State Museum (60 minutes). The journey covers a distance of approximately 153 miles and takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes each way.

Washington Park
Tulip Viewing The Tulip Festival is held in Albany, New York every spring at Washington Park. It stems from when Mayor Erastus Corning 2nd got a city ordinance passed declaring the tulip as Albany's official flower on July 1, 1948. This year will be the 70th Albany Tulip Festival.

Empire State Plaza Convention Center
Empire State Plaza, whose cornerstone was laid in 1965, was marketed at the time as a "Design for the Future". The Plaza exists today as an icon of 20th-century Modernist architecture. The Empire State Plaza features 10 state government buildings set on a six-story platform connected by a quarter mile long underground concourse.

New York State Capitol
New York State Capitol is the capitol building of the U.S. state of New York. Housing the New York State Legislature, it is located in the Empire State Plaza on State Street in Capitol Park. The building, completed in 1899 at a cost of $25 million (worth approximately half a billion current dollars), was the most expensive government building of its time.

The New York State Museum which was founded in 1836. The collections of the New York State Museum include geological samples, paleontology specimens, historic materials, and art. Their anthropological collections are extensive and include the collections of several early and well-known anthropologists, including Lewis H. Morgan and Arthur C. Parker.
